Grappenhall hammer incredible 316 to win by 200 runs

GRAPPENHALL hammered an incredible 316-3 against a depleted Davenham in the RSK Cheshire County League on Saturday.
South african-born former Gloucestershire batsman Grant Hodnett slammed an unbeaten 113, Peter Barnes hit 98 and skipper Adam Roylance hit 70 and the Grappers top order ran amok against the modest Davenham attack at Broad Lane.
After the break, Grappers’ domination of the game continued with the visitors dismissed for 116 with 14 overs to spare.
Arran McCabe took 3-23 – a hat-trick to take the first three wickets of the inn8ings with a caught behind, cleaned bowled and an LBW.



Grappenhall 2nd also had a routine victory away at Davenham, declaring on 285-5 after 41 overs.
On Sunday, Grappenhall 3rd beat Brooklands in a T20 Cup game, chasing down the runs for the loss of only two wickets after Brooklands had posted a decent 135-5. Alex Perry hit 54 off 31 balls.
Earlier, Fameesh Azeez took two wickets.
Warrington lost by 81 runs when they took on Sale at Walton Lea.
The visitors batted first and totalled 181-8 in 50 overs. Three Warrington bowlers took two wickets each – Umer Zeb, 2-37, Jake Liddle, 2-33 and skipper Jonathan Fletcher, 2-36.
But Warrington’s batsmen never got started and the side crashed out for 100. Mike Rudd and Liddle, who each hit 17, were top scorers.
Warrington 2nd also lost, going down by four wickets at Sale.
Batting first, they were all out for 168, Robert Dempster top scoring with 42. Sale’s Mike Bishop bludgeoned his way to 107 off 109 balls to almost win the match single-handedly – only one other batsman reached double figures!
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Appleton won the toss and elected to bat against Weaverham at Lyons Lane – but were bowled out for 136. Top scorers were Stephen Ball, 38 and Ian Richards, 33.
Weaverham made a good start but in the end made hard work of reaching their target for the loss of eight wickets. Four Appleton bowlers shared the wickets – Harry Sygrove, Jonathan Ball, Phil Jackson and Steven Ball took two each.
Appleton 2nd hit 179 at Bunbury and then bowled out the home side for 161.
Nick Williams h it a fine 101 as Appleton 3rd hit 260-8 against visiting Holmes Chapel. He got good support from Jonathan Owe, 42. The visitors were bowled out for 141, Paul Grumley taking 3-11.
Appleton 4th took a mauling at Chester County Officers, being bowled out for 83 after the home side had amassed 278-2.
Lymm Oughtrington Park went down by just five runs in a nail-biting finish at Langley.
The home side posted 206 against accurate bowling led by Mohammed Bhola’s 5-28 and James Anderson’s 3-17.
Lymm got off to a fine start putting on 81 for the first wicket, Nick Chadbourne hitting a lively 61. Jake Hughes followed this up with a even more aggressive 69. But the rest of the batting contributed little and Lymm finished on 201.
The “Derby” match between Lymm Oughtrington Park 2nd and Warrington 3rd ended with a six wicket victory for Lymm.
Warrington hit 166-8, openers Thomas Jones, 68 and Adam Lawton, 35, providing most of the runs. Shovan Chattergee, 4-21 and Astrayo Daw, 3-31, were the pick of the Lymm bowlers.
When Lymm replied, Dave Evans, 50, Chris Oakes, 48 and Andy Hossack, 30 not out, carried the side to 167-4 and victory. Raj Soni took 2-34.
Glazebury strolled to a nine-wicket victory over Offerton at Hurst Lane.
The visitors totalled 158, Sam Stanier taking 5-29 and Jordan Carroll 3-35. Then the home batsmen dominated the rest of the game, Wayne Wargreaves hitting 65 not out, Jack Warhurst 34 and Carroll completing an fine all-round performnce with 54 not out as they raced to 161-1.
Glazebury 2nd lost by 77 runs at Toft after the home side h it 195-4. Glazebury were all out for 118, Alex Wort top scori9ng with 35 and Phil McCue hitting 25 not out.
