Fire crews in two and-a-half hour battle to extinguish blaze at historic Bewsey New Hall

THREE fire engines were involved in a two-and-a-half operation to deal with a serious fire at the historic Bewsey New Hall in Cromwell Avenue, Warrington.

The blaze believed to be an arson attack involved a detached building which was well alight when fire crews from Warrington, Birchwood and Penketh arrived at the scene shortly before 8pm last night.



Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and a main jet to extinguish the flames.
It is believed the incident was an arson attack.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers were alerted at around 8.40pm on Wednesday, April 21, of a fire at Bewsey New Hall.
“The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing but it is believed to have been caused deliberately.”

In a separate incident, firefighters went to Troutbeck Avenue, Bewsey to deal with a fire involving a fence which was believed to have been started deliberately. They used a hose reel jet to tackle the fire.
