COUNCIL chiefs at Warrington are being urged to approve a three percent rise in the usual rates for the borough’s Care at Home service – bringing it to £17 per hour.

Based on the current level of business, the increase would cost the borough council an extra £342,784 a year on the annual cost of about £8.7 million.
The council currently has 21 providers it contracts with for Care at Home services -12 of which charge hourly rates of £16.50 or less.
Providers who already charge £17-an-hjour or more will not be offered the increase.
A report to be presented to the council’s cabinet by Cllr Rebecca Knowles (pictured) , cabinet member for health and adult social care, states that the number of people in Warrington receiving Care at Home increased from 820 to 866 between January 2020 and January 2021. There was also a 10 percent increase in the number of hours worked.
Care at Home providers are monitored by the Care Quality Commission and 71 percent of them are rated as “good” or “outstanding.”
The recommendations will be put to the cabinet meeting on Monday April 12.
