POLICE are again warning people to stay away from Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station near Penketh following ongoing reports of intruders on site.
The site is dangerous due to a number of the cables at the closed site still being live.
Despite issuing a warning about the dangers last December, Police are still receiving reports of intruders gaining access to the site in Cuerdley.
After liaising with police about the problem, the power station’s security team has installed significantly more CCTV cameras and alarms at the site.
Site security will be passing on any subsequent footage and information regarding intruders at the site for police to investigate accordingly.
Fiddler’s Ferry closed almost 12 months ago and decommissioning is expected to be completed by the end of this month but there is no firm date for when demolition, which is scheduled to take between 40 and 50 months to complete.
A detailed report to Warrington Borough Council says it will be after June this year.
Explosives will be used to demolish the famous cooling towers, while experts will also be needed to remove asbestos from the site.
