WOOLSTON Rovers Under 11s player Warren Robinson has become the first recipient of the club’s Chairman’s Award following an amazing 10 continuous days of 10K runs to raise money for his team and Cancer Research UK.

Warren set out to reach a target of £300 but thanks to the amazing generosity of people, who were happy to support his ‘10K a day for 10 days’ challenge, the final total raised was a massive £2,030 which made all the hard work for somebody so young so worthwhile.

Chairman Steve Moore had nothing but praise for Warren after completing his challenge and said: “We need to congratulate this amazing young man on his unbelievable achievement. All we hear about is the bad things youngsters are doing and not enough of these types of ‘good news’ stories. Warren has made his family and Woolston Rovers Rugby League Club proud. He is the first-ever winner of this award and it is fully deserved.”
Junior Chairman Peter Bowden added, “It is important as a club for achievements like this to be recognised and Warren thoroughly deserves the praise that he has received for such a great effort.”
Warren’s dad Matt, who is the Head Coach of the Under 11s said, “I am really proud of Warren and what he has achieved. Completing something like this would be a challenge for anybody, but at 11 years old to complete this in the way he did, without any complaints, was really good to see. It was a really nice touch for the club to present him with the very first Chairman’s Award which was completely unexpected and took him by surprise.”
