House evacuated after smell of petrol following floods

A flood-damaged property at Callands was evacuated by firefighters investigating reports of a petrol smell.

One fire crew from Warrington attended at the property on Kilford Close, Callands, at 12.15pm yesterday (Sunday) following reports of a report of a smell of petrol in the house which had been effected by the recent flooding.
The crew evacuated the premises and used a gas detector to make sure that the property was safe.
There were no readings of gas in the house.
Once they were satisfied that the property was safe firefighters left the address.
They were in attendance for nearly an hour.
Then at At 1pm firefighters from Lymm were called to a report of a fire on Manchester Road in Rixton, Warrington.
The fire in a domestic garage was out on arrival.
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to look for hotspots and make sure that the fire had not spread.
They also isolated the gas and electricity supplies to the garage.
Firefighters left the address once they were satisfied that the fire was fully out and the garage was safe.
They were in attendance for around 20 minutes.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a battery charger inside the garage.
