Another record number as more than 300 new COVID-19 cases confirmed

WARRINGTON has again recorded a record number of new COVID-19 cases with more than 300 confirmed in the latest daily update from Public Health England, with infection rates continuing an upward trend.

The 303 (183) new cases in Warrington in the latest figures from Public Health England takes the total since the start of the pandemic to 10,942 (10,639).
Warrington has now produced record numbers for three consecutive days.
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days, previous days/updates in brackets, are 857 (696) – 408.1 (331.4) per 100,000 population – continuing an upward trend in infection rates over a seven day period.
While Warrington & Halton Hospitals have not updated their figures for today, according to NHS England two further deaths have occurred at the hospital taking the total to 314.

Covid-19 positive inpatients 122 (119) of which 36 (36) are Warrington residents – of which 13 (12) are in ICU
Total number of tests (inpatients/community) cumulative – 48,523 (48,301)
Total tests with a positive result (inpatients/community/died/discharged) cumulative 3,414 (3,390)
Discharges of positive patients (excluding deaths) cumulative 1078 (1067)
Deaths of Covid-19 positive inpatients cumulative 312 (311)
*The highest number COVID-19 positive inpatients during the first wave was on 12th April with 124 patients of which 18 were in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is now 315 (312) 150 per 100,000 population.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England is 361 (361).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Sunday, January 3 was 454 (445), taking the total number of deaths to 75,024 (74,570).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 54,990 (57,725), taking the total number to 2,654,779 (2,599,789).
Across the country, there are 23,823 (23,823) patients currently in hospital and 1,847 (1,847) patients in ventilator beds.
