AN £11 million extra care scheme for people aged 55 or over has opened at Harpers Green, Warrington.

Housing group Torus has opened the Harpers Green development on the site of the former Bayleaf restaurand at Padgate.
It provides its residents with secure, modern and affordable one and two bedroom apartments for rent or shared ownership.
Flexible onsite care is available if and when need and there is an on-site bistro and beauty salon, run by local businesses.
Care at Harpers Green has been funded and commissioned by Warrington Borough Council and will be provided by Warrington-based charity Making Space.
To mark the opening of the site representatives from Torus welcomed partners from Warrington Borough Council, including council leader Russ Bowden for a tour of the facilities.
An existing bowling green has been restored ready for Padgate Bowling Club to use.
All facilities at Harpers Green are due to open at the end of January, Covid-19 restrictions allowing.
The borough council’s cabinet member for health and adult social care, Cllr Rebecca Knowles, said: “We are delighted to have worked in partnership with Torus to deliver this important extra care scheme. It’s part of our ongoing investment in housing which meets local needs and allows people to live independently for longer.
“Harpers Green will provide flexible care options for residents, with a range of services designed to support health and wellbeing, reduce isolation and help people live life to the full. It’s great news that the scheme is now welcoming residents.”
