New plans to convert former town centre pub into apartments

NEW plans have been submitted to convert a former Warrington town centre pub into seven one-bedroom apartments.

The scheme involves the disused Prince of Wales pub at the corner of Winwick Street and Scotland Road.
A plan to convert the three-storey building into apartments was first put forward in October and the new proposals run alongside the original ones.
A Grade 2 Listed building, the pub was originally known as The Theatre Tavern, taking its name from a long-demolished theatre on adjoining land in Scotland Road.
Latterly the building has been used for offices.
There are no proposals to alter the external appearance of the building and it is hoped to retain as much as possible of the interior, although the existing stairs are not thought to be suitable for the building’s future use and will probably have to be replaced.
