Flood waters enter property and result in road closure

FIREFIGHTERS were involved in tackling flood waters that entered a domestic property at Moore near Warrington and resulted in a road closure throughout the day.

At around 10am firefighters received a report of floodwater having entered a domestic property on Runcorn Road which was coming from a water-logged field.
The electricity supply to the property was isolated and firefighters used specialist equipment to set up two dams to move water away from the address to a nearby brook.
They also used a pump to move water away from the address.
Cordons were set up and Runcorn Road was closed in both directions.
While Flood water was successfully removed from the address but Runcorn Road remained closed
A brook was blocked and flooding was contained to Runcorn Road.
Later in the day Council contractors put sandbags down to keep flood water away from properties.
They also used pumps to deal with the floodwater, as have firefighters.
A downpour of rain saw the flood water level rise again later in the afternoon.
At 5pm Firefighters handed the scene over to the council highways team.
