CONCERNED councilors are calling for urgent action following the collapse of a wall close to Lymm Dam last night – with fears further collapses could endanger the public.
Fortunately, no one was around when a length of walling collapsed near the zebra crossing on the main road close to Lymm Dam.
Police were quickly on the scene to tape off the affected area.
Local Cllr. Ian Marks said: “I went down last night soon after it happened and after talking to the three police officers I reported it to the Council emergency number. We were concerned about further collapses and the risk to public safety. It is still a mystery what caused the collapse.”
Another local Cllr Kath Buckley said: “Luckily no one was present when it happened.
“The footpath is now closed and urgent repair is needed to protect public safety as this is a local beauty spot with a considerable amount of visitors.”
