Telegraph pole catches fire after being struck by lightning

FIREFIGHTERS from Warrington were called out after a telegraph pole caught fire following reports it had struck by lightning on Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place at around 2.20pm when Firefighters were called to a fire involving a telegraph pole in Robson Grove, off Manchester Road, Warrington.
Crews put a cordon in place and alerted engineers. They used a small amount of water to put out the fire.
A witness is believed to have said the telegraph pole had been struck by lightning.
At around the same time, heavy rain and hailstones were experienced across Warrington.
