Grappenhall 3, Warrington 0 – at cricket!

MUCH of the cricket in the Warrington area was wiped out by the weather – but local sides Grappenhall and Warrington managed to play each other three times.
Grappenhall won all three games – two T20 matches between the 1st XIs and a 40-over game between the 2nd XIs in the Vivio Cheshire County League.
Jonathan Fletcher top-scored for Warrington in the first of the T20 games to enable the side to reach 94-7. But opener Adam Roylance hit 42 for Grappers to take them to their target for the loss of three wickets. Peter Barnes hit 22.
In the second game, Albert Pennington 32 and Barnes again hit 22 as Grappenhall totalled 113-7.
Brad McIntosh hammered 42 and Matthew Tyrrel 33 for Warrington but the side fell short by five runs.
In the 2nd XI game, Warrington batted first and reached 100-9 in 40 overs. Raj Soni hit 24.
Ross Arrowsmith took 3-25 for Grappers and then top-scored with 53 not out as his team coasted to a six wicket victory.
Harry Charvill took 3-25.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Appleton went down by five wickets at Burton, after hitting 131-9, Simon Tomlinson 47. The home side reached their target with six overs to spare.
