New bid to convert disused church into flats

A NEW bid is to be made for planning consent to convert a disused Warrington church into flats.
Windsor Property Holdings are seeking permission to change the use of the former Hope Church, in Crosfield Street, Warrington, into five self-contained flats.

In January 2018, an earlier proposal to convert the church building into 10 flats was thrown out by borough council planners after nearby residents and local councillors had lodged objections.
The main objections at that time were to inadequate parking provision. But there were also objections to the number of flats proposed. Neighbours said 10 was far too many – but that five would be acceptable.
Hope Church dates from 1981 but has not been used since 2015 when the congregation moved to another building because of rising maintenance costs. The building is not listed.
