ONE more person has sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, with 10 new cases recorded in the latest daily figures, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 703.

The number of patients who have now died at the hospital is 109, while at least 75 people have died in local care homes, up to the week ending May 8, taking the town’s death toll to at least 184.
As of noon Thursday, the hospital had discharged a total of 247 patients.
Across the UK the Daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 384 taking the total number to 333,998
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 3,560 taking the total number to 236,711.

Meanwhile the official estimate of the pandemic “R” number has risen slightly over the last week, according to scientists advising the government.
The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) said the UK reproduction number for the coronavirus is now between 0.7 and 1, up from 0.5 to 0.9 last week.
The slight increase, based on calculations done by six research groups, is being attributed to cases in care homes and hospitals accounting for a greater proportion of the overall total.
They say it is too soon after the easing of the lockdown for increased movement of people to show up in the data.
