WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols, has been appointed on to the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Select Committee.
Select Committees are charged with scrutinising the work of government departments.The BEIS Select Committee scrutinises the policy, spending and administration of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and its public bodies, including Ofgem, the Financial Reporting Council and the Committee on Climate Change.
Commenting on her new role, Charlotte said:“I am delighted to be joining such an important committee at such a critical time.
“As our country comes out of the Coronavirus crisis, looking at how we rebuild our economy and create good, well-paid jobs going forward will be crucial. So too will be ensuring that our country meets our urgent climate change targets.
“As a member of the BEIS Select Committee I am looking forward to playing a key role in tackling these challenges by examining and scrutinising the work of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and its public bodies and helping to develop policy proposals.”
