FIREFIGHTERS from Warrington were kept busy yesterday tackling a number of incidents including a fire started at a domestic property by an overheating tablet charger.
Two fire engines one from Warrington and one from Stockton Heath attended a fire at the property on Greenings Court at 23.20 after reports of a smoke alarm sounding at a domestic property.
On arrival crews discovered that a small fire involving a charger to a tablet had triggered the alarm.
The fire was out and the charger and the tablet had been removed from the address.
The fire had burnt a small patch of carpet inside the property.
Firefighters removed the burnt edges of the carpet and were in attendance for around half-an-hour.
Earlier in the evening One fire engine from Penketh was called to reports of a fire in Folly Lane, Warrington.
On arrival the crew discovered that it was a case of controlled burning in a fire pit outside a domestic property.
Firefighters deemed it to be necessary to extinguish the fire.
They did so using a hose reel jet.
Firefighters were in attendance for more than 20 minutes.
In another incident at around 10.30pm firefighters were informed of a fire in woodland in the Lakeside Drive area of Warrington.
On arrival the crew discovered that it was a small fire.
Firefighters used water to put out the fire and were in attendance for around 15 minutes.
Earlier in the day, shortly before 4.30pm firefighters were called to a fire on a railway embankment at the back of Hulme Street in Warrington.
The fire was approximately 20 metres by 15 metres in size.Firefighters liaised with a representative from Network Rail and extinguished the fire using water.
They were in attendance for around an hour and 15 minutes.
