Another Everyday Hero nomination at Orchard Care Homes

FOR a second week running, a care worker at one of Orchard Care Home’s residences in Warrington has been nominated in a regional initiative to acknowledge going ‘above and beyond’ during the coronavirus pandemic.

Melissa Tinsley, Activity Co-ordinator at Three Bridges Nursing Home in Nook Lane, has been nominated as an Everyday Hero in the BBC’s Northwest Heroes recognition programme, an initiative to celebrate those going the extra mile to help others. Her nomination follows closely on the heels of last week’s announcement that the Activities Manager at Orchard’s Green Park care home was recognised.
During these uncertain times, Mel has gone above and beyond every day, coming in on her days off and doing everything she can to keep all the residents happy and well.
Val Marston, Home Manager at Three Bridges Nursing Home, is not surprised about the nomination, saying: “Mel has been getting residents involved in corridor sing-a-longs and bingo, washing and drying their hair, making everyone feel good. She is a friend to every single resident and whenever she is around there is never a sad face in sight and always a song being sung. So, it’s only right she has been nominated for the BBC Everyday Heroes award, which is well deserved and we would be lost without her.”
Operations Director for Orchard’s North West region, Dave Williams, reflected on Mel’s nomination; “Mel is a very valued member of the Three Bridges team, always getting residents and staff involved in fun activities and It’s great that her efforts have been acknowledged.”
