Warrington and Halton Green Party has paid tribute to the NHS and to providers of essential services such as carers, supermarket staff, refuse collectors, postal workers, and delivery drivers during the Covid19 crisis.
Similarly, they also recognise and value the contribution of local community volunteers, Warrington and Halton Borough Councils, and local Parish Councils.
Warrington and Halton Green Party Leader Lyndsay McAteer said: “These are extraordinary times and we owe our gratitude to people who are working around the clock to help people in their hour of need. At the same time, we feel for the sadness, fear and grief of people who have suffered from Covid19 or have lost loved ones.
“Community cohesion and cooperation in the face of adversity has been an unexpected positive outcome of the crisis. When it is over we hope this new, kinder world will remain with all of us – one where there is more working from home and there is less traffic on the roads; one where air pollution has decreased significantly and where the natural world seems closer to us than ever before.
Lyndsay McAteer added: “We hope that we will continue to look out for the vulnerable in our neighbourhoods and that this renewed community cohesion will endure.
This is a difficult time for us all, but we will get through it. When we come out at the other end it cannot be a return to business as usual. We need to build a new normal – a society where social, economic, and environmental justice are the foundation.”
