Disposable aprons donated to nursing homes during Coronavirus crisis

A Warrington Volunteer group has  partnered up with Birchwood based Harding Packing to deliver thousands of disposable aprons to nursing homes during the Coronavirus crisis.

Cllr Amanda King praised Harding Packing’s Dave Howarth, Paul Howarth and Sam Heathcote who contacted Amanda and the local volunteer group, in answer to a call out for more PPE for local nursing homes. Hardings found a company who had converted their traditional manufacturing production line to a new manufacture of plastic aprons. This manufacturer has now also taken a very large order for the NHS and they will be delivering aprons directly to Hospitals.
Harding Packing delivered the aprons to Great Sankey community hub where they were then coordinated to 12 nursing homes across Penketh, Great Sankey, Callands, Burtonwood and Winwick with thanks to coordinators Vicki Anders, Gaynor Jamieson, Lindsay Dixon, Eibh Abbey and Cllr Alex Abbey.
Cllr King said: “We have had impressive volunteer and community efforts helping many people across the west side of Warrington, with special mentions to our drivers Grahame Pike, Andy Wright and Connor Jones who delivered the aprons to the nursing homes. Each nursing home received 1000 aprons.

Cllr King added: “We are united as a community and I would like to praise all the administrators, volunteers and helpers on both of the following Facebook groups: ‘Supporting the Elderly and Vulnerable during the Coronvirus – Great Sankey’ and Penketh’ and ‘Westbrook, Callands, Kingswood and Burtonwood Coronvirus Support Group’. Who together with the Parish Councillors across the areas have supported so many local residents since March.
