A WARRINGTON couple living in isolation during the coronavirus lockdown were re-united with their six grandchildren online thanks to The Home Instead Senior Care Bring Joy Foundation ‘Keep Busy, Keep Active’ campaign.
Hilary and Edward Heesom, were delighted when they learned that their grandson Ben Jackson had nominated them to receive a Facebook Portal device from the campaign recently launched to support seniors who are socially isolated due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
Hilary and Edward have six grandchildren and are both in isolation and missing their whole family. Hilary looks after Edward who has heart failure and relies on family and friends for emotional and practical support and so was finding ‘lockdown’ particularly difficult.
Ben was looking for a way to ensure his grandparents could stay connected to their family and reached out to the Bring Joy Foundation to see if they could help. The foundation donated the piece of modern technology to the family in order to help them feel less lonely and isolated during this time of uncertainty.
Ben commented, “Our family had a lovely ‘well connected’ Easter thanks to the Bring Joy Foundation and the Facebook Portal. I am confident that it is going to bring joy to our family for a long time!”
Penny Hamer, Executive Director of the Bring Joy Foundation said, “Our aim is to reduce the feeling of loneliness and keep people connected until they are able to socialise once more. We are delighted to be able to support Hilary, Edward, and their family at this time and help them bring a little happiness to their lives.”
