Orford roads closed as bomb disposal unit arrives at scene

UPDATED: POLICE have confirmed it is safe for residents in the Orford area of Warrington to return to their homes after a bomb disposal unit was called out to remove a device from a garden.
The incident took place at a property on Birtles Road, off Long Lane and a number of roads in the area were closed.
A number of residents were evacuated from the area.
A Cheshire Police Spokesperson said: ” At 2.15pm on Wednesday 15 April police received a report of a device being found in the front garden of an address in Birtles Road, Warrington.
The area has been cordoned off as a precaution and EOD are at the scene to make an assessment.”
Police later confirmed that the device had been removed and it was now safe for people to return to their homes.
