THE number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Warrington has now gone through the 300 barrier, with 42 new cases and sadly two more deaths.
The total number of people who have now died after testing positive for COVID-19 at Warrington Hospital is 33, although the actual number of deaths will be higher. At least four people have died in care homes, which are not included in the Public Health England figures.
The total number of new cases confirmed in Warrington, now stands at 301, a jump of 42 from yesterday and across the country there have been 5,288 new cases with 737 deaths.
There have now been a total of 84,279 cases and 10,612 deaths, reported across the country.
Warrington Hospital no longer gives out information. Of the deaths recorded in England there were  42 patients aged between 30 and 98 who had no known underlying health conditions.
During the govermnet’s daily press conference Health Secretary Matt Hancock described it as a “sombre day” as the UK joined the list of countries were there have been more than 10,000 deaths relating to coronavirus.
He said: “The fact that over 10,000 people have now lost their lives to this invisible killer demonstrates just how serious this coronavirus is and why the national effort everyone is engaged in is so important.”
The latest figures come during mounting concerns that they do not show a true picture with care homes and deaths at home not being incuded.
Controversy also continues at the lack of PPE equipment to protect health workers.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Boris Johnson has left hospital saying there is “no question” that the NHS saved his life.
After spending seven days in hospital, including a  period in intensive care he is now recuperating at his Chequers countryside retreat. He will not be returning to work while he continues to recover but he did send a video message to the country.
