THE annual St Patrick’s Day Parade took place in Warrington on Sunday as members of the town’s Irish community marked the occasion, with a walk from the Irish Club on Orford Lane to the town centre.
Mayor of Warrington Cllr Wendy Johnson, was joined by Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols and Council leader Cllr Russ Bowden, as flowers were laid at the memorial to three-year-old Jonathan Ball and 12 year-old Tim Parry, who were both killed following an IRA bomb attack on the town in March 1993.
Meanwhile this Friday, March 20, marks the 27th anniversary of the Warrington bombing. At 11:45hrs a group from the Peace Centre will gather at the River of Life Memorial on Bridge Street, where they will be joined by the Mayor of Warrington, a small number of Council Officials, victims and survivors of the attack and members of the public.
A few words will be said and there will be a laying of wreaths and flowers. Water will be taken from the River of Life and transported back to the Foundation for Peace where a small ceremony of watering the Peace Tree will take place.
