Condolences as Rylands FC say farewell to club stalwart Ron Stretford

THERE was sad news at Rylands FC last week with news of the passing of club stalwart and former treasurer Ron Stretford.

Ron, who had the Gorsey Lane stand named after him was an active member of the club for many years serving as treasurer. He is the father of club benefactor Paul Stretford and condolences are extended to the family at this sad time.

Meanwhile having survived stroms Ciara and Dennis, the Gorsey Lane pitch succumbed to the effects of Storm Jorge on Saturday.

The water logged state of the pitch causing the postponement of the Blues scheduled home game against fellow promotion chasers Longridge Town.

Unbeaten in the NWCFL since mid-January second placed Rylands return to action on Saturday when they visit mid table Whitchurch Alport, kick off 3pm.
