POLICE officers have been hailed heroes after rescuing a man from the fast flowing River Mersey during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The man apparently jumped into the over flowing river close to Bridge Foot and was swept down river.
Officers ran alongside him and when it was safe enough, pulled him from the water, saving his life.
DI Christopher Maddock praised the actions of the officers on social media, describing them as heroes.
Proud tonight of the @PoliceWarr team – male jumped off a bridge and was swept away by river. Officers ran alongside and when safe to do so pulled him out of the water – without doubt saving his life #heros pic.twitter.com/hqnTnKlM7h
