Investigation launched after pedestrian killed by unmarked police car

AN investigation has been launched after a pedestrian was killed after being struck by an unmarked police car at Penketh last night.

The incident took place at 7.20pm on Monday 3 February on Warrington Road in Penketh which resulted in the road being closed in both directions. It has since re-opened.

The pedestrian – a man – died at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing at this time.

In line with normal procedure the incident has been referred to the Independent office for Police Conduct.

The collision took place close to a crossing near a Co-op store on Warrington Road.
