UPDATED: THE Sankey Way roundabout outbound was closed following a serious road traffic collision this morning (Thursday).
Emergency services attended at the scene and the road was closed but re-opened around 11.15am.
The incident is believed to have involved a male pedestrian being hit by a car near the Lidl store at around 9am.
Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was airlifted to Aintree Hospital with serious head injuries. His condition was said to be critical but stable.
The road is now re-opened.
