NEW Warrington South MP Andy Carter has highlighted the failures of Northern Rail at a meeting with Transport Minister Chris Heaton-Harris in Parliament.
The newly elected Member of Parliament saw for himself the cancellations last weekend at the new Warrington West station and has responded quickly, bringing the matter to the attention of Chris Heaton-Harris MP, Minister of State for the Railways.
Speaking from Westminster Mr Cater said “We have an excellent new station facility for residents in the Chapelford area, paid for in part by Government funding, which can transform rail travel for local people, the only problem is more than half the trains scheduled to run are being cancelled.
“There are similar service problems across the Northern network, it’s simply not acceptable and I’m very pleased to hear that Ministers are aware of the inconvenience this causes to passengers in Warrington”.
Andy says he’s been able to highlight to the Minister how the problems are impacting on people who use the trains for getting to work and leisure.
He added:“I’ve been able to share details of all the services cancelled and have raised with the Minister how this impacts people here in Warrington.
“The failure of the train operator to deliver what they promised before the station was opened is not something we can accept. Chris Heaton-Harris made it clear to me that action is being taken, we need to see trains running on time and as per the timetable”.
