A PLAY area at Warrington’s Old Hall Park has been revamped at a cost of £120,000.
The refurbishment project has given a new lease of life to the play area, off Cromwell Avenue at 20 Acre Park.
Old and worn out play equipment has been completely replaced with brand new equipment, for 2-8 year-old children of all abilities to enjoy.
The ball court has also been resurfaced and a new Multi Use Games Area — a steel, anti-vandal, fenced area, with built-in goal post units – has also been installed.
Cllr Tony Higgins, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for leisure and community, who opened the new play area, said: “These improvements – the latest success for our playgrounds restoration project – have transformed Old Hall play area into a modern, exciting play zone, with new, inclusive equipment, to ensure access for disabled children.
“I’m delighted this work is complete. It’s great news for local families, who can look forward to many years of active play in this fantastic new-look facility.”
Grant funding of £50,000 was awarded by FCC Communities (formerly WREN) for the scheme, with the council contributing a further £70,000 towards the project.
