Apprentices ready to take next steps towards a career

GROUP of Warrington apprentices are about to take the next step on the journey to becoming fully qualified engineers, IT specialists, safety technicians and operations team leaders and start their new careers.
Craig Kitchener is among the group of 36 apprentices who are currently participating in the Amazon Apprenticeship Programme through the fulfilment centre in Warrington.
Craig, 26, , who lives in Warrington, is studying IT and is currently putting the theory he’s learning at QA Training in Manchester into practice at the local fulfilment centre.
He said: “When I started doing my apprenticeship, the first thing I noticed was that no two days at Amazon are the same and I love that. The role is really challenging and has so much variety. Sometimes I’ll be working on big projects and other times I’ll be working on my own to fix a problem. The chance to work on projects big and small, with such talented people, has been brilliant for me.
“I wanted to work somewhere that was truly at the forefront of technology because it’ll be so beneficial to my career.
“I’ve loved IT for a long time. My parents work in IT. I studied it at school, so I’ve got a rich history with the subject. Having said that, when I left school, I studied biochemistry but I wanted a change so I went back to my roots. ”
Craig will finish his apprenticeship in 2021 and has some advice for anyone who’s thinking of becoming an apprentice. “Go for it! If you have a passion for IT or engineering then I don’t think there’s any better way to get into those fields.”
Prashant Pandey, site leader at Amazon Warrington, will guide the apprentices in their new roles and help them settle in.
He said: “It’s great to welcome Craig and the apprentices. The apprentices will now take the next step on the career ladder, teaming up with our established engineers, IT and operations managers. Gaining practical knowledge of the role while learning is invaluable and also helps our apprentices learn how to work as a team. Above all else, they’re going to have a great time.”

  1. It is true that apprenticeship at Amazon is a milestone for apprentices’s career. I work at Amazon BHX4 Coventry and here also apprenticeship program going on. I was supposed to apply for this opportunity but because of some personal issue I didn’t. But whenever I see to all apprentices, I miss being there. Anyway! Next year I am going to apply for it, because it will be boom for my career. I don’t think that anywhere I will be able to get this chance. Here I am working and at same time I will be polishing my career.
