Brexit poll indicates majority now want to remain

A BREXIT poll run on the warrington-worldwide facebook page which engaged more than 150,000 people has indicated the majority would now rather remain part of the European Union.

More than 37,500 people voted in the online poll from across the country, with the final result showing 46pc Leave compared to 54 pc Remain, compared to 52pc Leave to 48 remain at the Referendum three years ago.

The poll was shared widely across facebook by Pro Remain and Pro Brexit groups around the country.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson pledged that the country would have left by today (October 31) but has now been forced to call a snap General Election on Thursday December 12, as he has been unable to deliver Brexit without a majority Government.

With Brexit a key issue it is likely to continue to be a topic of much conversation over the next six weeks – and with Warrington South, a key marginal, it is a seat the Tories need to win if they want to form a majority government.

With the Brexit party fielding mother of two, Shropshire Cllr Clare Aspinall, 43 as their prospective parliamentary candidate for the constituency, it is certainly going to split the vote, in what could be a three horse race involving current MP Faisal Rashid, Tory candidate Andy Carter and Lib Dem Ryan Bate.

Meanwhile the Warrington North Labour stronghold will be made extra interesting with current MP Helen Jones, who has held the seat for 22 years, announcing her retirement.

Of course with many people disillusioned with the political landscape at the moment anything could happen!

warrington-worldwide is now running a twitter poll (see below) to gauge public opinion.
