THE Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the Warrington area today.
River levels on the River Mersey are expected to remain high as a result of high  tides and intense rainfall.
As a result, flooding of low lying land, roads and farmland is possible this afternoon.
Specific locations include: Fiddlers Ferry, Eastford Road and Arpley Bridge.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “It is possible that river levels may affect Arpley Road under the railway bridge. Further high tides tomorrow morning may result in additional flood alerts.
“We are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue flood warnings if necessary. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.”
