Fire crews rescue driver trapped in flood waters

FIRE crews helped rescue the driver of a car trapped in flood waters at Hawleys Lane, Warrington, early this morning.

Three fire engines attended from Warrington, Penketh and Stockton Heath along with the boat rescue unit from Warrington.

The incident occurred shortly after 5.30am when firefighters were called to reports of a car trapped in flood water on Hawleys Lane, Warrington. 

On arrival crews found that the driver had exited the vehicle and was stood on the roof.

Two swift water rescue trained firefighters  used a raft to rescue the occupant. They then moved the car to a place of safety.

Crews were on scene for approximately 30 minutes. 

Flooding has been an issue at the bridge on Hawleys Lane for many years.

Earlier at 4.20am firefighters from Lymm, were called to reports of flooding at a property on Knutsford Road in Antrobus.

On arrival the crew discovered that water had flooded into the property from a nearby field.

Firefighters worked to divert the source of the water into a drain, they then helped to clear the water from the property.

The crew were in attendance for around three hours.

  1. As it says in the article its a common occurrence and you`d expect people to know better.
    Also is that not a `No Entry` sign at the side of the bridge? It`s been a long time since I`ve been through that bridge.
