LIGHTNING lit up Warrington during the night as thunderstorms rolled across the town.

This dramatic photograph taken by local photographer Eddie Whitham shows a flash of lightning appearing to make a direct hit on Fiddler’s Ferry Power Station near Penketh.

Thankfully there were no reports of any damage caused by the lightning which was accompanied by loud thunder and heavy rain.

Thundery showers are forecast to return to Warrington tomorrow (Thursday) evening as temperatures are set to reach around 32 degrees by mid afternoon.
