Smoke alarm triggers kitchen fire alert

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a house in Howley, Warrington yesterday to reports of a smoke alarm sounding
The crew discovered cooking fumes had activated the alarm and used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property. They were at the scene for about 10 minutes.

In another incident, fire crews from Warrington, Penketh and Widnes were called to a h ouse in Samuel Street, Great Sankey where fire had broken out in the kitchen.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze and a ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the property.
One casualty was assessed at the scene by paramedics but did not need to go to hospital.
No smoke alarms were fitted in the property so a home safety assessment was carried out with the occupier.
Crews were at the scene for about 45 minutes.
