A BEHIND the scenes look at the day-to-day workings of Warrington Hospital is being offered this week by Radio General – the long-standing hospital radio station.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, it will open its doors for a “hospital staff open mic
Medical and non-medical workers from across the site will take a break from their busy schedules to talk about their varied roles.
They will give listeners a taste of what it takes to keep the Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust meeting its aim of providing outstanding services for the patients and communities.
The show, led by afternoon mix host David Parkinson, with a team of presenters, will run from 10am to 4pm. It will be broadcast live from the Keith Inman Studios located in the hospital main entrance.
Programme controller Keith Inman, who has been a volunteer at Radio General for 45 years, said: “These days give the listeners a taste of the work that goes on behind the scenes. They always prove popular both with staff, patients and visitors.
It is part of our aim in making sure that Radio General keeps patients involved in the community during their stay.”
The popular station features request shows, rugby commentaries, the Sunday service from the hospital chapel and a range of music and entertainment programmes including outside broadcasts from around the town.
Anyone can make a request for a song for someone in the hospital or themselves by dialling 01925 662122, or from the hospital bedside Hospedia unit on *800.
Patients can listen on the bedside unit on “radio” channel 1 and Radio General also broadcasts to the general public at www.radiogeneral.co.uk or via the Tune In app.
