School plans extra security to stop children trying to jump fence

A SECURITY fence designed to prevent children from trying to jump over an existing perimeter fence is planned for Woolston Brook School in Green Lane, Fearnhead.
An application for permission to build the fence is to be put to Warrington’s development management committee next week.
The proposed fence would be 2.4m high, of galvanised steel, and would include a 1.2m access gate. It would run across the north eastern corner of the existing site, segregating an overgrown area from the rest of the school fields.
A report to the committee says there are mature trees growing next to existing boundary fencing which runs around the school site. But there are mature trees growing next to this fence and children are climbing the trees and trying to jump the fence.
The proposed fencing is mainly for security purposes.
Officers are recommending the plan be approved as the overgrown area of land is considered unusable meaning the school will not lose any playing field space.
