Warrington4Brexit group stage two more successful rallies

THE recently formed Warrington4Brexit Group staged a further two hugely successful events at weekend as they again urged the town’s two Labour MPs to respect the result of the referendum.

On Saturday supporters rallied at the Skittles at Market Gate, followed by a second rally on Sunday for a photoshoot on the steps of the Town Hall.

The Group was delighted by the high attendance at both events.

Warrington4Brexit has also launched a petition, calling on the town’s Labour MPs, Helen Jones and Faisal Rashid to honour their election manifesto pledge to respect the result of the Referendum.

A spokesperson for Warriongton4Brexit explained: “At our previous rallies lots of people approached us, asking where they could sign to show their support for democracy and respecting the LEAVE vote, so we have started the petition. It was so popular on Saturday that people were queuing up to sign – in under two hours we had over 230 signatures for the paper petition and we have now launched an online version of it too.”

The spokesperson added: “The petition is also addressed to Warrington Borough Council, which backed a motion towards the end of last year calling for a second referendum – a so called “People’s Vote”, many ordinary voters like ourselves are appalled by this. As one of our supporters at the Town Hall so aptly put it on our livestream: “This country is the world’s oldest democracy in the modern era. The whole of the Western world right now is currently watching what is happening in Britain. It is absolutely fundamental to this country’s history, its traditions and its culture that the democratic decision is upheld. Any MP in Parliament who is seeking to overturn the democratic decision made in this country quite frankly is not fit for purpose and should be voted out at the next election.’
