THE family of Stephen O’Donnell, who died in Risley prison earlier this week, have today (Thursday) paid tribute to him and released a photograph.

Stephen, aged 33, died on Tuesday 22 January following an incident at HMP Risley in Warrington.

“Our hearts are broken at the loss of our beloved Stephen. He was a lovely man who was adored by his family and friends. He didn’t deserve to be taken from us in this way, but nobody can take away the memories that we have of him which we will always treasure.

“We ask that our privacy be respected at this time while we come to terms with our terrible loss.”

Formal identification has now taken place and the family are being supported by specialist officers.

Adrisse Gray, aged 23, has been charged with murder and appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday 24 January).

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 21 February.
