Police appeal for witnesses after fatal collision on Winwick Road

WARRINGTON Police are appealing for information from the public following a fatal collision involving an 82-year-old local woman on the A49 Winwick Road, yesterday, Tuesday.

The incident, which involved a red Hyundai I20 and a pedestrian, occurred shortly before 9.30am on Tuesday (October 2) on the southbound carriageway of the A49, Winwick Road near to the junction of Poplars Avenue.

The pedestrian, an 82-year-old local woman, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Salford Hospital.

Sadly she has since passed away; her next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident.
