Washing machine starts kitchen blaze

FIRE broke out in the kitchen at a house in at Latchford, Warrington as a result of a fault on a washing machine.
Fire crews from Warrington and Stockton Heath went to the scene in Ottaway Gardens last night and discovered the washing machine well alight.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze and then used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.
The occupants of the house escaped unharmed.
