Toy appeal launched for needy families

A CHRISTMAS Toy Appeal is being run by Warrington Borough Council’s neighbourhoods team for the sixth year in succession.
The team is asking for donations to be gifted to families who are struggling to buy Christmas presents for their children.
This year they are aiming to try and make Christmas even more special – so with the donations given the team will also be making up a Christmas Eve gift box for families to enjoy.
Donations of new toys, gift vouchers, sweets, new nightwear and books will be accepted and should be suitable for children up to the age of 16. Each gift will then be distributed ready to be put under the Christmas tree.
Residents can drop off donations at Orford Community Hub, on Festival Avenue or Contact Warrington, on Horsemarket Street.
Cllr Tony Higgins, the council’s lead member for leisure and community, said: “The donations given by the generous people of the borough truly help families. The kindness of local people helped ensure many deserving children received a gift last year. It would be wonderful if people could donate again this year to help put a smile on a child’s face.’’
All families who will receive a present have been referred to the service by health and wellbeing partners across the borough.
