LIBRARIES across Warrington will be celebrating National Poetry Day (4 October) with an exhibition of poetry. Local residents are being invited to submit poems for the exhibition.

The exhibition of poems will be displayed in the form of a tree, a poet-tree, at LiveWire libraries across the town.

National Poetry Day is a UK-wide celebration of poetry and all things poetical. It’s about everybody sharing poetry, reading poetry, writing poetry and enjoying poetry.

Warrington residents are being encouraged to help celebrate National Poetry Day by submitting poems to their local library so that they can be displayed on a poet-tree. The poem can be an original poem or a familiar favourite.

Matthew Entwistle, Community Librarian at LiveWire, said: “National Poetry Day is an annual celebration that gives us the opportunity to showcase our favourite poems and to inspire people to enjoy, discover and share poems.

“In celebration of National Poetry Day, we would like local residents to submit poems for the exhibitions in our libraries. The poem can be old or new, original or a favourite.  Everyone is invited to join in.”

To submit a poem, people should take the poem to their local library, or send the poem by email to [email protected] including your full name and area of residence in Warrington.
