Two houses to be built on site of historic pub

THE site of the former Manx Arms public house at Warrington is to be re-developed – with buildings echoing the style of demolished pub.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee have given the go ahead for two houses in multiple occupation – one providing five bedrooms and other four.
The old pub – which was a locally listed building – was demolished some time ago. It had stood empty and deteriorating for years.
It was originally part of a terrace and the adjoining building is still standing.
The committee was told the new building proposed would occupy the same footprint and would replicate the traditional style and appearance of the original. The proposal would facilitate a viable redevelopment of the site, which in turn would enhance the immediate area.
