Grappers stroll to timely win over runners-up

GRAPPENHALL pulled off a timely eight wicket victory over runners-up Timperley in the Vivio Cheshire County League.
They bowled out the visitors at Broad Lane for 108 and then strolled to 111-2, openers Adam Roylance, 48 and Peter Barnes, 47, putting 89 on the board before they were parted.
The result did not shift Grappers from bottom spot in the premier division but it kept alive their hopes of avoiding relegation.
Grappenhall 2nd also won at Timperley, bowling them out for 154 after batting first and scoring 201.
The 3rd XI made it three wins out of three over the weekend by defeating Cheadle by 16 runs.
Richard Wiles top scroed with 49 as Grapp-ers totalled 131 and David Seed took 5-35 as Cheadle were dismissed for 115.
In division two, Warrington kept their slim hopes of promotion alive with a nail-biting victory over Romiley at Walton Lea.
Batting first, Warrington totalled a modest 156, largely due to a fine 72 from in-form Jonathan Fletcher.
The visitors made a good stab at reaching the target but finally sell just seven runs short on 149. Aaron Soni, with 4-42, was the pick of the Warrington bowlers.
In the UKFast  Cheshire Cricket League, Lymm Oughtrington Park came out on top in a close fought struggle with Prestbury.
Batting first, Lymm totalled 178 and then dismissed the visitors for 173.
Lymm 2nd cantered to a five wicket victory over Oakmere after bowling them out for 96, Shirf Wali taking 5-19 and Robert Hutton 4-34. Chris Oakes top scored with 23 as Lymm replied with 98-5.
Stretton registered a five wicket victory at Maritime after bowling the home side out for 110. Wahab Aftab top scored with 41 as Stretton replied with 111-5.
Stretton 2nd hit 198-5 to overcome Upton, who had hit 197-9. Prasant Nanda top scored with 67.
Appleton got back to winning ways – but only by the skin of their teeth – at Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge.
The home side hit 169-9 and Appleton’s last pair were at the wicket when they scraped the winning run on 170-9. Ian McAuley hit 58, Joe Cooper 33 not out and Amir Aslam 32.
Glaze bury had a comfortable win over Styal at Hurst Lane.
Batting first, they totalled 190-8, Sam Stanier hitting 43 and R Michaelidis 33.
Styal were bowled out for 134, Stanier completing a fine all-round performance by taking 5-27 and Troi Sequeira 3-49.
Three centurions were celebrating after a remarkable, drawn “derby” game between Glazebury 2nd and Appleton 4th.
Glazebury batted first and hammered 272-5, with Phikl McCue hitting 116 not out and Alex Wort 131.
Appleton went for the runs, with Phil Pugh hitting 108 and Dave Darbyshire 40. At the finish they were on 264-5.
Appleton 3rd went down by four wickets against Cheadle Hulme, hitting 116 and then seeing their opponents reply with 117-6.
