A NEW town centre community base for Warrington Borough Council’s neighbourhoods team has been officially launched.

Bank Park Pavilion is situated next to the Town Hall and adjacent to the park’s all-weather bowling green, and is available for hire to local community groups and private parties.

Boasting a café and large, adaptable interior space, the pavilion gives the neighbourhoods team an ideal central Warrington venue for hosting community health and wellbeing events throughout the year.

Cllr Tony Higgins, lead member for community, leisure and neighbourhoods said: “I am delighted that we have been able to provide the neighbourhoods team with a town centre base as a focal point for activities, events and campaigns. The location is perfect for year-round events within easy reach of thousands of people. There are already plans afoot for teddy bear picnics and World War 1 commemoration events.”

Guests at the official opening were introduced to the prominent public health campaigns including “Know your numbers” blood pressure checks and the Change4Life “Train like a Jedi” summer activity programme, while the Warrington’s Wellbeing service offered tips and support for making lifestyle changes and improving mental health.

Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, lead member for public health and wellbeing, said: “Bank Park Pavilion will be a key asset in our engagement with local residents around health and wellbeing and the fact that it’s located within an attractive public park makes it a wonderful asset for the wider community as well.”
