WARRINGTON’S cultural lead has praised everyone who helped make the Neighbourhood Weekender a success.

The borugh council’s lead memberer for culture and partnerships, Cllr Dan Price, thanked everybody involved, for playing their part in an “unforgettable” weekend.

Cllr Price said: “Neighbourhood Weekender saw Warrington at its best. The glorious weather and world-class music made for a truly unforgettable event.

“Thank you to everyone who played their part in making the festival a success – from the organisers, bands and caterers, to the bar staff, stewards and security. And let’s not forget the festival-goers themselves, who turned out in their thousands. They created a really special atmosphere, and it was wonderful to see Warrington so alive with colour, vibrancy and joy.  Neighbourhood Weekender is here to stay, and I’m already getting excited about next year’s festival.

“This event is one part of the legacy of our City of Culture bid, which was the catalyst for a new cultural ambition for Warrington. The success of Neighbourhood Weekender shows we can host large-scale festivals, and attract some of the biggest artists to perform here.  It bodes very well for the future, and for the cultural journey we are embarking on.”

An estimated 25,000 pop fans descended on Victoria Park for each day of the festival – the biggest of its kind in Warrington for more than 20 years – to enjoy sets from Courteeners, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Blossoms, Circa Waves, The Coral, Sundara Karma and many more.
