What’s going on in Stockton Heath?

RESIDENTS of Stockton Heath residents are being urged to find out more about how they can get involved in a range of community activities.
A special open day takes place at Sandy Lane Community Centre at 2pm on Thursday providing people with information about local opportunities that can help contribute to happier, healthier and fitter lives.
Organised by Warrington Borough Council’s south neighbourhood team, the market place-style event will give local people the chance to discover what goes on at the community centre that sits in their back yard – from local lunch clubs and coffee mornings, to film clubs.
Cheshire Police, Trading Standards and the Wellbeing Service will join the Neighbourhood team to answer questions and provide tips and health advice.
Blood pressure checks and dementia champion sessions will also be available at the session as well as Reflexology, flower arranging and other tasters.
The council’s lead member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins,
Said: “I’m delighted that communities in south Warrington are being given this fantastic opportunity to find out what’s going on in their local community to improve their wellbeing.
“It is also very much appreciated when residents come together to find local solutions to local problems.
I look forward to hearing about their activity over the coming months and beyond.”
Local resident association, “South Warrington Voice”, is using the event to launch their organisation. The group – which has membership from across South Warrington will be providing visitors with a free “Emergency Message in a Bottle”, a system which helps hospital staff by allowing
residents to record their medications and emergency contact details within a pill style bottle and store it in their fridge.
