WARRINGTON racing champion Joe Charlton is hoping for pole position when he returns to the track this Sunday (Easter) for the start of the British Karting Championships.

Joe, 24, who is sponsored by JD Kitchens, will race his Tony Kart with Vortex engine for the first time in six months at Glan-y-Gors, near Betws-y-coed, North Wales and keen to get back behind the wheel and speed through the three qualifying rounds.

He said; “I am excited to be back in the driving seat on Sunday. My plan is to match my performance last year by qualifying in first place in the final, but this year I intend to win and lead the championship at the next stage”.

Joe, who is regularly first around the track, began karting aged 10. He follows in the footsteps of formula one legends Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, who began their careers karting, Jenson winning the British Championship in 1991.

Joe’s sponsor Dave Charlton from JD Kitchens will be there to cheer Joe on.

He said:“We’re proud of Joe’s winning attitude and his commitment to sport. He’s taken six months out to concentrate on his engineering studies and it will be great to see him back on form on Sunday”.
